I Know Someone Like That by Robert Ashton 'A magnificent counterblast to the stigma and prejudice, ignorance and fear that afflicts the realm of mental health in this country, I Know Someone Like That is a clear, readable and immensely touching account of how real people cope in the real world. I recommend this to everyone, for as the title suggests, we all know someone ...'Stephen Fry

This book, for 7-10 year-olds, was written to a very tight deadline in just two weeks and to very strict double page templates, each section with a specific word count. Brief included provide picture suggestions. After the 2006 World Cup in Germany we were asked to write another 16 pages on the stages of the competition. The contract was via a publishers’ outsourcing company, Q2A Solutions, Delhi, who did design, layout and page make-up in-house. |

Newsletters

Alison edited a twice-yearly, 4-page A4 print newsletter for Rethink’s Eastern
Region Reference Group. This includes identifying content for each page, sourcing copy and pictures
from branches across the Eastern Region and in some cases writing copy from
phone interviews and also liaised with the printer and proof read once it has been set. See PDF

This was a special 28-page 75th anniversary edition of the Suffolk Preservation Society newsletter. As consultant editor Alison sourced all copy and pics from contributors, wrote some articles and liaised with the printer on design and layout. The brief was to come up with a fresh, modern design that would help the society to recruit younger members. |
Newspaper articles
Alison was a newspaper journalist for 15 years before founding Multimedia Reputations and wrote news articles and features on a wide range of topics.
These two examples are slightly different because both were travel articles
for the paper’s Saturday magazine and for both she took the pictures as
well as writing the copy. The second one, The New Face of Prague,
was her first freelance job and involved her also being “guinea
pig” for the treatment offered by Beautiful Beings, the cosmetic
surgery holiday company it was done for.
